There are no guaranteed or easy routes to becoming an actor. You have to make your own way, and every actor’s path is a bit different. Some common elements for most actors are:

BASIC TRAINING… you need to know the fundamentals. .

PASSION… if you want it badly enough, you will find a way. Ask yourself if there is anything else that you love as much as acting. If there is do that instead! Be passionate about being ready… rehearse, do your warm-ups, develop your voice.

EXPERIENCE… even a small part that seems unrewarding at the time helps build your base of skill. [Acting class gives you some experience, even if it’s not paid. You need to get real work in the real world to break into the business.]

TALENT… yes, you need to have that spark of talent, that ability to enter deeply into role that keeps your work alive. [Talent can be nurtured, or it can be crushed. Work where you feel your talent is respected.]

GUIDANCE… You need good advice and strong direction. At Sears & Switzer we can incite and invite you to better performance.

TV Commercials are often your first step into camera work. And one good commercial can pay for your acting habit for months! Try our TV Commercial weekend. We will cover everything you need to win.

BREAK INTO VOICE-WORK !

In many ways voice-work is the most demanding and competitive thing an actor can do outside of feature film stardom. Our Voice-over Over-view weekend will give you new ideas, great exercises and experience and the knowledge you need to break in!

BREAKTHROUGH TO BETTER CHOICES !

The only way to get better is to learn more… You need to practice in more demanding training environments. Our Scene Study class will help you make better choices from better script analysis. If you are a trained or experienced actor let us push you further.

And we have 3 classes about getting better at getting work! The Audition Weekend is aimed at film, television series work and theatre. The TV Commercial class is [surprise!] all about auditioning for commercials. the Voice-over weekend is for actors aiming at TV voice-over, radio, and animation work.
